FDA-approved Dermal Fillers for Laugh LinesThursday, March 16th, 2017, 1:39 pm
There are two new dermal fillers hyped as the latest injectables to target laugh lines. Galderma, the pharmaceutical company that developed injectables like Restylane®, Sculptra®, and Dysport® has announced FDA approval of two new dermal fillers: Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne. The first filler has been approved for treatment of moderate wrinkles and folds from the nose to mouth, while the latter works to plump and fill more deep-set lines. Both are currently available in doctors’ offices.
Although there are other fillers on the market that plump wrinkles, Refyne and Defyne provide more natural-looking result than previously thought possible. Galderma claims results can last up to 12 months, which means you’ll likely need to get pricked twice a year to keep things looking smooth. But it’s the new type of hyaluronic acid in the filler gel that’s the real news here. The new technology known as XpresHAn™—which is pronounced like a French person trying to say the word expression—and it enables the hyaluronic acid gel to flex within the skin as you move your face. Whether you’re smiling, frowning, or wrinkling your face any which way, the result appears supple and natural, not puffy or stiff.
